Ornamented Eggs

Our family decorated eggs not only for Easter but as Christmas tree decorations. My grandmother, Jane Swensen, developed her decorating to a high art, using even broken shells glued together, painted and dressed, to create characters. The plus of using paper and some flour paste, in a light-weight paper mache, is the eggshell is protected. But, of course, delicate water color paint on the eggshell's fine surface is beautiful. A good trick is to use water color pencils, it's easy to make more complicated designs with them.
In the following postings are a few of my creations.
